The Best WoW Gold Guide

Midsummer Festival Gold Bonanza

The Midsummer Festival is underway folks and that means there is some serious gold to be made. Oh what, you want exact numbers? OK, how about an extra 550 gold for level 70 Alliance players and 562 gold for the Horde level 70 players. And that is just counting the Festival Bonfire quests. But hurry, the festival only lasts until July 4!

Alas, this isn’t the easiest gold: in order to earn your 550+ gold you must visit each of the 62 bonfires located throughout Azeroth and Outland. I take that back, it is extremely easy, just time-consuming; and visiting the opposing faction’s bonfire can be tricky as well. But I don’t call that a problem, I call it FUN! (And it’s also one of those times I am thankful for playing a rogue as my main.)

Each turn in at a bonfire you do will also earn you five Burning Blossoms which can be used as currency to buy the Brazier of Dancing Flames and Captured Flame novelty items among other things.

The two quests you will be completing (62 times) are:

As you might have already guessed, if you under level 70 completing these quests won’t get you quite as much gold, but even better they will earn you some serious xp both from quest completion as well as the the (stackable with rested bonus) xp boost from the Ribbon Poles. Blizz also took out previous years’ group requirements to get the pole xp buff, so just click the pole, stand around for a while and profit. Because the buff duration increases by three minutes every five seconds you are dancing around the pole, you can acheive a 60 minute duration in less than a minute and a half.

Finding 62 bonfires, at least half of which are deep in enemy territory may seem like a daunting task, so in order to make it easy on you, gentle reader, I have organized the following list of Wowhead map locs for the bonfires according to faction and continent (Alliance locs follow the Horde list). You should be able to tab out to the list for a loc when you hop on the bird to travel to each zone.

Eastern Kingdoms

Kalimdor

Outland

I recommend reading Valkor’s Gold-Making Guide. It has comprehensive information about where to farm gold, how to own the auction house and everything in-between. At more than 100 pages with free lifetime updates, it is the most comprehensive WoW gold guide you can get!

My #1 Mote of Fire Farming Spot - Level 67+

mote-air-grinding

As with every type of mote in Burning Crusade, there are several spots to farm Motes of Fire (WowEcon | Wowhead). My personal favorite spot is located in north-central Blade’s Edge Mountains (Wowhead | WowWiki).

This spot is similar in many ways to my favorite Mote of Air farm - that is, there are many elementals of one type which are pretty easy and respawn quick, but have annoying mobs mixed in to slow down your mote harvesting. Farming spots like these will still net you more motes than anywhere else - including Elemental Plateau (in my opinion).

Get to Elemental Plateau with no flying mount

NERFED:

UPDATE: Blizzard nerfed wall jumping in general with patch 2.4 much to the woe of many players. While I have been told that wall jumping is still possible, it is so difficult that you will probably want to skip this one. If you do decide to try this post-2.4, leave a comment and let us know how it went!

So everybody knows Elemental Plateau is only accessible with a flying mount. Which leaves out the all the level 68+ players who could possibly handle these mobs, not to mention the newly-minted level 70s who do not yet have their flyers. There is, however, a “backdoor” so to speak.
