Don’t Drop Those Grays!
Today I was being lazy, just hanging around the Undercity sorting out my bank and whatnot. A new player asked in general for some general tips about how to make more money in WoW, and someone actually made a reply that he (or she) throw out all of their gray items to make room for the green items they pick up.
“NO!” I cried. OK, I typed it, but I did let out a bit of a sigh when I saw a “more experienced” player actually offer this up as advice. To make the most WoW gold out of your farming sessions, you must save as many gray items (aka vendor trash) as is orcishly possibly!
Always save as many grays as possible when you’re grinding or questing. This is the secret of gold farming that allows the Chinese farmers to rake in such large quantities (that and non-stop, 24-7 grinding). Most of those gray items aren’t worth squat alone, but selling full stacks of them adds up quick. Take for instance the Speckled Shell Fragment: it’s worth 45 silver for a stack of five and is easily farmed from mobs as low as level 30.
When starting out a new character, the first thing you should save up for and buy are the largest bags you can afford at the auction house. I recommend 12-slot or 14-slot bags to begin with. This way you will have plenty of space to hold not only your precious green and white (tradeskill) items, but all your money-making gray vendor trash as well.
Of course not all vendor trash is created equal, some grays are worth more than others. I recommend downloading and using Norganna’s Auctioneer to help with this; Auctioneer comes with Enhanced Tooltips which will display any item’s worth to vendors when you mouse-over it. This will help you decide which gray items to jettison if you must drop some for any good white, green or better items.
How do I know about stuff like this? Well, aside from using common sense, I read Derek’s Gold Guide. Derek has personally learned how to farm gold from the Chinese Master Farmers. He wrote this guide to educate the masses; it’s a really fun guide to read and has the most complete profession gold-making and leveling guides I’ve ever seen.
Well i found that if your a lvl60 person and your on Outlands pick as much gray items as u can especialy mails and plate items..
they sell at least 2gold a piece so yeah.
dont just throw ur gray items around if you can sell them for hella lot of money!
plus when ur in the auction house try not to overprice your items.
for example selling a green item that cost 6g67s35c you can sell it around 12g45s50c or around 10gold.dont go over board by selling it at 20gold rite away people will try to look for a cheaper one and if you got the cheaper price people will definetly buy your stuff.

Most of my grays sell for at least several silver a piece, now if those grays stack up…..Every little copper or silver counts. That is how come my characters, even lowbies, have great stuff.
