Fun Making Gold Through the Mailbox

This is a totally fun way to make gold through your in-game mailbox using nothing more than your creativity and expertise. It’s been around for while, mainly as a “scam,” but it’s also a totally legitimate way to make some extra gold.

First think about what you want to write and how it will benefit other players. It could be an original poem or story by you, or maybe it’s a gold-making tip like you’re reading right now. I especially enjoy getting RP mail that is written from the perspective of the character sending it.

I suggest actually writing out your piece in a text editor (i.e. notepad) or word processor (like OpenOffice). It’s easier to copy-and-paste your text into your mail than it is to write in-game. Plus, it will allow you to distribute more than one of your work! Now send what you’ve written to one of your alts - I would suggest starting out by sending 10-30 copies of what you’ve written.

Log into the character you sent the mail to and start saving each message to your inventory. Now start looking for players you think would like what you’ve written and send them each one of the messages with a nicely written introduction explaining what your piece is about and attach a COD.

How much you charge for the COD depends on the type of player your selling your work to. If you are selling RP news or poetry to level 70s, then charge one or two gold. If you’re selling leveling guides to level 25 players, charge 20 silver - you get the picture.

In order for them to read what you’ve written, they must pay the COD, so make sure to write a nice introduction. And if they really like what you’ve written they may thank you and ask you to send them more!

Another way to sell your writing is through the auction house, although players buying them that way won’t know what they are about so they will buy the messages more from curiosity than anything else. This is often where the “scam” part came into play with this method. But, gold is gold, no matter how you get it. And if you write a short ridiculous joke in the note, the person spending 2 gold just to see what it is probably won’t be disappointed.
