So you say you’re looking for a way to game the trade items market in your realm? Think you have what it takes to make a truck-load of gold, and you’re willing to step all over everyone else to do it? Then you might be interested in the tip below.

Start by doing a bit of research on WowEcon and with your own Auctioneer data to find an trade item you want to focus on. At first focus on one item, but if you are successful - and if you aren’t blacklisted by everyone else - later on you can focus on two or three items.

Now, start making offers for this item in the Trade channel. Ask for just under what the market pays. This strategy skirts a very fine line between being a scam and not. Overall, it could easily be viewed as crossing that line, so make sure not to overdo it. Or you might be looking down the business end of a 72-hour ban or worse. And for your reputation’s sake, you might also want to use an alt.

Occassionally, and especially on low-population realms, if you aggressively buy items like this a market shortage will often trigger, sending prices soaring. Optimally you would want to control the market in this fashion, in order you don’t become a ninja pariah on your realm … unless you like to RP and that’s the effect you’re looking for.
